I would like to invite you to my very first blog about my experience and opinions regarding the United States Army. But first off, I’d like to give a little information about myself. My name is Peter Kim and I go by Cadet (CDT) Kim and Private First Class (PFC) Kim at the moment. The reason I go by CDT Kim is because I am in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program, which consists of all military classes that help you become an Officer in the United States Army. I also go by PFC Kim because I am an enlisted soldier who went through Basic Training (BT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). I have many experience and knowledge about the United States Army and would like to share my thoughts of being a soldier.
As a Soldier, you have many responsibilities and duty. You have many responsibilities because you have to represent your uniform and the country you are defending. You also have many duties because as a soldier, you are on alert everyday of your life. But with many sacrifices comes many benefits as well. A soldier gains much respect from the good citizens of America and along with that come great pride. I personally love putting on my uniform and going to my unit to train. I feel as though I am part of something huge and with a big goal in mind, wanting to do my job the best I can. Additionally, the United States Army gives you many opportunities to advance yourself as a Soldier. You get promoted, paid, and gain many support to better yourself and the people around you.
I believe a Soldier can make a change in many things that go around in this world. They are basically the guardian angels to freedom and all the things we do in this gracious land.
As a Soldier, you also can gain valuable experiences from many schools the Army provides. It can be from jumping out of planes to diving under the seas, you name it. It is adventurous, for you can go to places regular citizens can not. It can be seen as a bad way because you have to go into the battle field, but for a Soldier, it is just another opportunity to shine and serve. As a result, with the experience and knowledge I’ve gained over the two years in which I’ve served, I think the Army is the coolest thing I’ve ever done and plan on attending every bit of the schools they offer me.
